The Voyagers CLUB UPDATE
We’re proud to report that the first microbe collection of the c-NAMMs Expedition is officially complete! After a few dry runs to refine logistics, R/V Robert Gray successfully completed its first sampling operation. A strong breeze and 3-foot swell kept things interesting, but the crew adapted quickly, and all systems worked smoothly. The ship's new wet lab facility was put to use for the first time and performed exceptionally.
Current Status & Next Steps
From seawater onboarding to metadata acquisition and filtration, the entire team was engaged. The success of this first collection is a meaningful milestone in our North American marine microbe survey.
Our next sample site lies approximately 1,000 nautical miles southeast of our current location. We’ll bypass Cabo San Lucas and steam directly to the new site, operating on a 24/7 multi-shift schedule. The team is energized and focused as we continue our southbound route.
We are proud to carry expedition flags from The Explorers Club, The Adventurers Club of Los Angeles, the GAC, and the Voyagers Club.
